Emirate flights Lagos after two years

Emirates, the main airline of the United Arab Emirates, has restarted its flights to Lagos after being grounded for two years.

The airline had suspended operations due to various issues, including unresolved trapped funds belonging to the airline.

The flight EK 783 landed at Murtala Muhammad International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, on Tuesday at 3:32 PM. It arrived at the old terminal with many empty seats on board the Boeing 777-300ER. Although the aircraft can hold up to 392 passengers, the exact number of people on the flight was not immediately available. However, witnesses noted that many seats were unoccupied.

This low passenger count reflects the ongoing challenges airlines face as they try to resume operations after the pandemic and other operational suspensions. For this flight, departing passengers were processed at the new terminal, while arriving passengers were welcomed at the old terminal.

One passenger shared, “The flight was not full at all but as usual the services were very good. And I think this is understandable being the first flight after many years.”
