Controversy Over Fubara’s Alleged Move To Sack Wike From Tinubu’s Cabinet
Controversy was brewing on Monday over an alleged move by Governor Siminalayi Fubara to withdraw his predecessor as the Rivers State representative in the cabinet through a petition to President Bola Tinubu that would lead to his sack as FCT Minister.
The move which, however, has no constitutional basis as the president has the right to appoint a minister outside the remit of a governor or any other person was, however, being cited as a moral compass for the president.
The speculation first came to light through an X user who posted thus:
GWG.ng reports that the alleged move followed a series of arson attacks on the buildings of several local government headquarters in the state following the inauguration of new local government chairmen by Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Though there is no evidence as to the involvement of Minister Wike in the arson attacks, several twitter users and allies of Governor Fubara, however, pointed fingers at the minister’s supporters as leading the arsonists in the attacks.
The move to sack Wike from the Federal Cabinet where he holds the FCT portfolio as minister, has, however, drawn several reactions.
GWG.ng gathered some of the reactions to the reported move by Fubara to sack Wike as a minister.
While several said that there is no constitutional basis for the move to sack Wike as a minister as allegedly being instigated by Fubara, some saw the battle between the two political actors as a selfish game between the duo with no direct bearing for the populace.
