Video Evidence Of How Nigerian Super Eagles Were Assaulted In Libya Emerges

Video evidence of what the Nigerian Super Eagles faced in Libya is now emerging

A video has emerged of how members of the Nigerian delegation to the ill-fated AFCON qualifier match between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Libya were physically assaulted at Libya’s Al Abraq Airport.

The scene saw apparently was provoked by the attempt by Libyan security agents to confiscate a phone belonging to a member of the Nigerian delegation who had apparently been trying to record a video of the unpleasant experience that they met in Libya.

GWG.ng reports that the Nigerian delegation including members of the Super Eagles were held hostage for about 14 hours at Al Abraq Airport after their chartered plane from Nigeria was diverted from the scheduled airport at Benghazi to the Al Abraq which is apparently used more for hajj operations.

The hostility of the Libyan authorities forced the Nigerian delegation to cancel the scheduled match and return home.

The incident followed the 1-0 defeat handed the Libyan team in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State in the first round of the qualification match between the two countries who are aiming for qualification for the AFCON tournament scheduled to hold in Morrocco in 2025.

GWG.ng reports that the harassment of the Nigerian team has generated much controversy in Nigeria and the video recording of the assault of the Super Eagles in Libya is bound to further raise emotions in Nigeria.
