How UNN Lecturer Miraculously Escaped From Kidnappers Den
A lecturer at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, named Oguejiofor Ujam, has successfully escaped from the captivity of kidnappers.
He was kidnapped on Sunday evening while traveling along the Opi-Nsukka-Ugwogo-Nike Road in the Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State. Ujam holds the position of dean at the School of General Studies at the university.
In a statement made on Tuesday, the police spokesperson for Enugu State, Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed Ujam’s escape. He provided details about how the escape occurred. Ndukwe explained that police officers had disrupted another kidnapping attempt around 7:10 p.m. on Monday in the Neke-Uno area of the same road.
During the gunfight with the suspects, they fled, leaving behind one AK-47 rifle, two magazines with a total of 22 rounds, and a chain containing 39 live bullets. Ndukwe added that efforts to track down the fleeing suspects later that night led to Ujam’s escape from his abductors.
In a related incident, it was reported that gunmen had also kidnapped an official from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) along the same road near Maduka University in Ekwegbe.
Despite multiple sources confirming this kidnapping, including the Sector Commander of the FRSC in Enugu State, Frank Agbakoba, Ndukwe stated that “no such incident has been recorded anywhere” in Enugu State.
