APC Gives Atiku Infamous African Title
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has slammed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, labeling him as “Africa’s most infamous election loser” following his recent statements questioning the legitimacy of the 2023 presidential election results.
According to the APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, Atiku has consistently failed in his political ambitions and did not deliver on economic reforms during his tenure as vice president from 1999 to 2007.
In a statement, Morka argued that Atiku not only failed to implement his economic strategies while in office but also could not persuade his party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), to prioritize meaningful economic improvements during its 16 years in power. Morka added, “Nigerians, who are discerning and informed, will not risk their future on a candidate with a troubling history of public trust issues.”
The APC further criticized Atiku’s legacy as vice president, claiming his administration contributed to creating what they described as a “hydra-headed” petroleum subsidy structure, which they believe has had lasting negative effects on Nigeria’s economy.
Additionally, the APC statement argued that Atiku’s focus on achieving the presidency displays a concerning level of political desperation.
The statement also highlighted previous corruption allegations and controversies surrounding Atiku. It referenced former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s comments, reportedly stating that he would never support Atiku due to his record. The APC went on to state, “Atiku’s recurrent presence in Nigeria’s corruption scandals is a reminder of the damaging effects of past PDP administrations.”
The APC argued that Atiku’s latest political aspirations lack substance and relevance to Nigeria’s current economic needs, describing his proposed policies as outdated. They suggested that his proposals have already been tested during his time in office, failing to yield results. “Atiku had ample opportunity to make a difference as vice president. He did not succeed in implementing his ideas and could not drive change within the PDP,” the statement read.
Finally, the APC encouraged Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s administration, emphasizing the party’s commitment to revitalizing Nigeria’s economy and addressing the challenges facing the country today.
