Ayefele interview former assassin

Renowned gospel musician and radio host, Yinka Ayefele, has responded to the backlash following his recent interview with a man who claimed to have been a former assassin turned evangelist.

The guest, who alleged that he had been involved in ritual practices and used over 80 people in these rituals, shared his story on Ayefele’s radio program. This sparked public outrage, with many calling for Ayefele to disclose the man’s identity to the authorities.

The man, named Mistina Orobo, made these shocking claims during an interview on Saturday, on the popular “Opeyemi” show on Fresh FM in Ibadan. He explained that he had used the blood of women in rituals to maintain his mystical powers, and that he consumed their bodies after extracting the blood.

The interview led to widespread anger from listeners, who demanded that Ayefele reveal the man’s identity. Many accused the gospel artiste of protecting a self-confessed criminal.

In response, Ayefele clarified his position in a phone interview with media personality Yinka TNT. He explained that he was following the guidelines of the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), which prohibit revealing the identities of interviewees in sensitive situations without their consent. Ayefele said he had asked the guest if he wanted to remain anonymous, and the guest chose not to reveal his identity, which Ayefele respected according to broadcasting rules.

“The NBC code includes NTBB (Not to be Broadcast) guidelines, and with the rise of social media platforms like Facebook, we always ask guests if they want their faces shown online. The final decision is theirs,” Ayefele explained.

Ayefele also shared that the guest, who has since reformed, had served time in prison before turning to evangelism. He noted that the man was not a traditional priest but a former assassin who had been involved in armed robberies along the Osogbo expressway and had been jailed eleven times. When asked if he was ready to face arrest, the man confirmed he was, stating that he had already served his time and that the crimes were no longer recent.
