Gunmen Kill Lodger At Ogun Hotel
A man identified as Gideon Ebukwe was tragically killed by unidentified gunmen at Ok Winners Hotel, located in Igbosoro, Igode, in Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the incident, explaining that the victim was shot while attempting to escape the attackers, who stormed the hotel where he had been staying.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, the gunmen located Ebukwe despite his efforts to flee through the ceiling, leading to his death. They also took away his belongings.
“At around 3:30 p.m., the Chairman of the Community Development Committee, Atobatele Igbosoro, reported the incident,” said Odutola. “He described it as a suspected assassination.”
Providing details of the attack, she added: “A group of five unidentified armed men arrived at Ok Winners Hotel in Igbosoro and attacked a guest, Gideon Ebukwe, whose address is currently unknown.
“At the time of the attack, the hotel staff, who were mostly women, were locked in another room. The assailants proceeded directly to the guest’s room.
“In an attempt to escape, the guest broke through the ceiling but was chased and shot dead. His belongings were also stolen.”
Police officers, led by the divisional police officer, visited the crime scene after being informed. While no arrests have been made, the victim’s body was transported to Jas Medical Mortuary in Ogijo.
Odutola assured the public that investigations are ongoing to uncover the motive behind the crime, including whether it is linked to cult activities. She also stated that the case would be escalated to the Police headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for a more detailed investigation.
