Mercy Aigbe, Toyin Abraham Lament ‘Sabotage’ At Cinemas
Actresses and filmmakers Toyin Abraham and Mercy Aigbe have voiced their frustrations about challenges with their latest movies in cinemas.
Mercy Aigbe shared her disappointment online, explaining that her movie, ‘Thinline’, was not being shown in some cinemas despite being listed on the schedule.
She apologized to her fans and promised to resolve the issue. “Good morning beautiful people, I have been getting a lot of complaints about some cinemas not showing ‘Thinline’ despite having showtimes. Please, I want to apologise. We are working on it, and hopefully, this will be resolved soon,” she wrote.
Toyin Abraham also expressed similar concerns as Mercy Aigbe regarding her movie, ‘Alakada Bad and Boujee’ at the cinemas. Despite the film earning N134 million in cinemas, she lamented that it was not widely available in many cinemas, and the screen time it received was insufficient. She thanked her fans for their unwavering support and loyalty.
In contrast to these challenges by Mercy Aigbe and Toyin Abraham, Funke Akindele’s movie, ‘Everybody Loves Jenifa’, has seen tremendous success at the cinemas. It earned over $190,000 in international cinemas within eight days of release and grossed N783 million in Nigeria.
Akindele expressed her gratitude on social media, appreciating her cast, colleagues, and fans for their contributions to the film’s achievements.
