Nigerian talent continues to shine on the global stage as Modupe Mary Abiona emerged victorious in the national finals of the prestigious Chinese International Student Singer Competition held in Guangzhou, China.
Abiona’s extraordinary performance of Sia’s hit song Unstoppable earned her a remarkable score of 98.90%, securing the first-place spot among 350 contestants from 52 colleges who participated in the Chinese singer competition across th country.

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) celebrated Abiona’s achievement in the student singer competition with a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), accompanied by a video capturing the euphoric moment she was called to the podium to receive her award.
“Congratulations Modupe Mary Abiona for winning the national finals of the Chinese International Student Singer Competition in Guangzhou! Out of 350 participants from 52 colleges, she claimed 1st place with an amazing 98.90% score, performing ‘Unstoppable’ by SIA. Proudly flying the Naija flag high!” NIDCOM wrote.
