Tinubu Fills Vacancy Created By Ministerial Appointment
By Benjamin Abioye

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Zahrah Audu as the new Director General of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), filling the vacancy created by the appointment of Jumoke Oduwole as minister.
The appointment was announced by George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, in a statement released on Monday. Akume emphasized that this decision aims to boost Nigeria’s economic development by utilizing Audu’s expertise in business growth and innovation.
Audu takes over from Jumoke Oduwole, who has now assumed the role of Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment. In reflecting on the change, Akume praised Audu’s credentials, saying, “Zahrah is an entrepreneur and technology expert. She is expected to bring her experience in business development, innovation, and investment promotion to her new role.”
Audu herself confirmed the appointment on LinkedIn, expressing her gratitude and outlining her goal to strengthen Nigeria’s position as a global investment hub. Her extensive background includes a degree in software engineering and a business management qualification from a respected institution in the UK. Prior to her new role, Audu served as the Technical Adviser on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to the President, working in the Office of the Vice President.
As the Director General of PEBEC, Audu will spearhead the “Invest in Nigeria” campaign and oversee the Existing Foreign Direct Investors Roundtable Forum. These initiatives are designed to attract and retain foreign investment while removing bureaucratic barriers to business in Nigeria.
Beyond her professional career, Audu is also known for her philanthropic work. She has supported policies that promote economic opportunities for Nigerians and has cultivated strong relationships with international organizations and governments. Akume’s statement acknowledged Audu’s impactful initiatives, noting that she has “made a significant impact in uplifting underprivileged communities across Nigeria.”
