Grammy-winning Nigerian artiste Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has reacted to the release of fellow musician Speed Darlington from Kuje prison.

Speed Darlington, whose real name is Darlington Achakpo, was freed after spending two months in detention.

Speed Darlington’s lawyer, Stan Alieke, confirmed his release through an Instagram post, expressing determination to seek justice for what he called the illegal detention and violation of Darlington’s fundamental human rights. Alieke stated, “Delighted to announce that our client, Mr. Darlington Achakpo, aka Speed Darlington (Akpi), has regained his freedom after two months of illegal incarceration.”

He further added, “As his legal team, we will explore every aspect of the law to ensure justice for the deprivation of his fundamental rights by the Nigerian Police Force and for the unjust treatment he endured. Mr. Achakpo expresses his gratitude to everyone who supported him and gives special thanks to my colleagues: Mr. Marshal Abubakar Esq, Barr Deji Adeyanju, Barr Hamza Nuh, and Barr David.”

The singer’s detention stemmed from his accusation that Burna Boy had an immoral relationship with American rapper and music executive Diddy. However, Speed Darlington was finally granted bail weeks prior to his release.

Following this development, Burna Boy issued a stern warning on Instagram. Addressing Speed Darlington, he wrote, “If you like misbehave again, you’ll go back to where you come from! And this time around, there will be no mercy! Don’t mess with ODG.”
