Gunmen Kill Delta University Professor In Asaba

A professor from Delta State University, Abraka, Emeka Chukwuma, was reportedly murdered by unidentified gunmen.
The tragic event took place on Friday when the 56-year-old Professor Chukwuma had just returned to his hometown, Umueji in Asaba, for his usual weekend visit. He was killed in his home.
There has been a noticeable rise in incidents of killings and kidnappings in Asaba, leading local residents to urge security agencies to ensure the safety of lives and property in the area.
A source said, “Professor Emeka Chukwuma was assassinated in Asaba on Friday night. He was a lecturer at Delta State University, Abraka, Anwai campus, but later moved back to the Abraka campus after Anwai campus became Dennis Osadebey University.” The source continued, “Prof. Chukwuma usually comes home every weekend. It is unfortunate that he came back yesterday for his usual weekend and was killed in his home at St. Bridges area of Umueji quarter, Asaba. As I speak to you now, Asaba is no longer safe. We are confused over the situation.”
The Police Public Relations Officer for the state, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident and stated that investigations are underway. He said, “Indeed, the incident has been reported to the police, and we are currently examining the situation.”
