Oshiomhole forgiveness From Igbinedion

A former Edo State Commissioner for Digital Economy, Science, and Technology, Ogbeide Ifaluyi-Isibor, has criticized Senator Adams Oshiomhole for allegedly turning a blind eye to illegal gold mining in his constituency.

His comments came in response to Oshiomhole’s recent claim that illegal mining, which is draining Nigeria’s economy and devastating the environment, as largely being undertaken by retired military generals.

Ifaluyi-Isibor, who served under Governor Godwin Obaseki, accused Oshiomhole—former Edo governor and current senator representing Edo North—of failing to address rampant illegal mining activities within his own zone.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, Ifaluyi-Isibor described Oshiomhole as “unstable, twisted, and double-mouthed,” alleging that he conveniently ignores past statements and contradictions in his political rhetoric.

“It’s difficult for me to listen to him without bias. Even when he appears to speak frankly, there’s always a twist to it. He’s proven through the decades to be unstable, twisted, and double-mouthed.

“He speaks so eloquently (and I give that to him) but forgets so quickly what he said yesterday or the standards he set yesterday. He is quick to loudly mumble and juggle words to mesmerize and hypnotize folks, but it’s mostly geared towards deceit.”

The former commissioner further challenged Oshiomhole to acknowledge and tackle the illegal mining crisis in Edo North, questioning who the real beneficiaries of the lucrative but illicit trade are.

“I share some of his concerns here, but please tell Sen. Adams Oshiomhole that there is illegal mining of gold and other natural resources in his own ‘backyard.’

“He can’t tell the world he is unaware. Or are people not making billions from it too? Who are the direct beneficiaries of the illegal mining of gold in Edo North today? If you ask me, who will I ask?” he wrote.
