Iyabo Ojo Opens Up On Leaked Naira Marley Chats

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has responded to Nigerian singer Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, after he shared their old private conversations on social media.

In the leaked chats, Iyabo had invited Naira Marley to some of her events, including her late mother’s remembrance party. In another message, she also asked for his support in helping her adopted son, who was pursuing a music career. However, the singer did not explain why he decided to release the old messages.

Reacting on her Instagram page, Iyabo Ojo stated that her issue with Naira Marley was not about their past interactions but his failure to address the alleged bullying of his former signee, Mohbad.

She also mentioned being aware of other accusations involving Naira Marley, which she believes should be handled in court if necessary.

According to the actress, it is normal for her to interact with celebrities through direct messages. She explained that she has helped many artistes, including Naira Marley, by promoting their music.

She wrote, “Naira Marley recently shared our old chats, and I’d like to address some points. As a TikTok sensation, I’ve promoted various artists’ songs, including Naira Marley. In 2020, I promoted his song after his team contacted me through my son Festus.”

Iyabo further clarified that Naira Marley had previously thanked her for her support and that she had invited him to her movie premiere and her mother’s burial. She also emphasized that she has always supported young musicians by promoting their work, allowing them to use her lounge for shows, and connecting them with producers.

She added, “As someone who supports emerging artists, I’ve helped many young musicians promote their work. I’ve allowed them to use my lounge for shows, promoted their songs on TikTok, or introduced them to music producers like Naira Marley. For example, Fabian was signed by Naira Marley but left due to personal issues, and my nephew’s music style didn’t align with Naira Marley’s label.”

However, Iyabo Ojo expressed her concerns about Mohbad’s situation, stating that she never accused Naira Marley of any crime but was troubled by the allegations that the late singer had been threatened and bullied.

She stated, “My issue with Naira Marley stems from his failure to intervene in Mohbad’s bullying. Furthermore, I’ve been made aware of allegations regarding Naira Marley’s involvement in other disturbing incidents, which will be addressed in court if necessary.”

The actress made it clear that she will always stand against injustice, no matter who is involved. She concluded, “I won’t turn a blind eye to injustice, even if it involves someone I’m close to. I interact with many celebrities via DM, including Vice Versa, and I won’t hesitate to speak out against injustice, regardless of our past interactions. Naira Marley, you were mistaken if you thought I’d stay silent.”
