By Gideon Ayeni

At least 40 civilians have been killed after suspected Islamic State in the Sahel Province (ISSP) jihadists ambushed a military-escorted supply convoy in northern Mali.
The attack occurred along the Ansongo-Gao axis, a highly volatile region, where the assailants also destroyed five vehicles. The incident was reported by counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, who shared the information via his X handle, citing security sources.
According to the report, the convoy was transporting essential supplies under military protection when it came under heavy gunfire near Kobe, an area frequently targeted by armed groups linked to ISSP and Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM).
