By Gideon Ayeni

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has dismissed rumors suggesting the return of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), emphasizing that the controversial unit remains dissolved.
In a statement released on Sunday, Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, reaffirmed that SARS, which was officially disbanded on October 11, 2020, has not been reinstated under any reformed structure.
“The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) is not back in operation. The recent information regarding SARS reformation and rules of engagement should be treated with caution,” The police FPRO stated.
The clarification comes amid speculation on social media that the police unit, SARS was set to return with new operational guidelines. However, the NPF has urged Nigerians to disregard such claims and verify any security-related updates through its official communication channels.
To prevent the spread of false information, the police advised citizens to follow their verified social media handles: @PoliceNG on X, @ngpolice on Facebook, and @nigeriapoliceforce on Instagram.
The statement further assured the public that the police remain committed to transparency, accountability, and ensuring the safety of all Nigerians.
