Arsenal secured a hard-fought 2-0 victory against Leicester City, thanks to substitute Mikel Merino, who stepped up when his team needed him most.

With several key attackers missing, the Gunners struggled in attack, but Merino’s late goals ensured they left with all three points.

Arsenal found it difficult to break through Leicester’s defense in the opening 45 minutes. Stand-in striker Leandro Trossard had a few opportunities, but none were clear-cut. Leicester nearly took the lead just before halftime when Wilfred Ndidi narrowly missed the target.

The second half saw Arsenal play with more urgency. Youngster Ethan Nwaneri came close twice, hitting the woodwork, but the team still lacked a finishing touch. With just ten minutes left on the clock, Merino made an impact off the bench, heading home Nwaneri’s cross to put Arsenal ahead. In stoppage time, he added another goal, tapping in from close range to seal the win.

Despite Leicester’s solid defensive efforts, they failed to keep Arsenal at bay. Goalkeeper Mads Hermansen performed well, while James Justin had to be substituted due to injury. Woyo Coulibaly, who replaced him, was among Leicester’s standout performers.

For Arsenal, goalkeeper David Raya was reliable at the back, while Jurrien Timber and William Saliba were solid defensively. Ethan Nwaneri was the most impressive performer, creating chances and assisting Merino’s first goal. Merino himself received high praise for his match-winning display.

Ethan Nwaneri’s dynamic performance in attack made him Arsenal’s standout player, playing a key role in their win.

With this victory, Arsenal continues to fight for a top spot in the Premier League, while Leicester will need to regroup after this disappointing loss.
