In a shocking new development, Ugo Nwokolo, popularly known as Mr. Nigeria Supranational, has come forward to allege that media personality Nedu manipulated him into making a now-infamous statement about being attracted to poor girls.

Speaking in an interview with content creator Lucky Udu, Nwokolo claimed he was coerced into making the remarks and that Nedu demanded a sum of 5 million Naira for an appearance on The Honest Bunch Podcast.

Nwokolo, whose viral statement—”Poor girls turn me on; the poorer the girl, the more attracted I am to her”—sparked widespread criticism, is now attempting to set the record straight. In the interview, he expressed deep regret, explaining that the statement did not reflect his true beliefs but was instead a product of manipulation.

“It’s against my character to say such a thing because poor girls don’t turn me on. No,” Nwokolo stated emphatically. He went on to claim that Nedu, the co-host of The Honest Bunch Podcast, insisted he alter his original topic in favor of more controversial remarks that would attract public attention.

According to Nwokolo, he reached out to Nedu in an effort to gain visibility as he prepared to represent Nigeria in Poland. However, Nedu allegedly informed him that appearing on the podcast required a payment of 5 million Naira. Nwokolo said he complied with the demand, believing it to be an opportunity to discuss his intended topic—eradicating classism and fostering an egalitarian society.

However, he was reportedly told by Nedu that “Nigerians don’t like people that sound intelligent. You’re not Peter Obi. For your message to fly, you have to sound dumb.”

Nwokolo further alleged that Nedu instructed him to mention social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) in the podcast to stir controversy and gain traction. “He specifically mentioned Very Dark Man. He said I should mention him,” Nwokolo recounted.

The ongoing feud between Nedu, VDM, and comedian DeeOne has been one of the most heated sagas in Nigerian media in recent weeks, with accusations and counter-accusations flying between the parties. This latest revelation only adds more fuel to the fire.

Perhaps the most heartbreaking part of Nwokolo’s testimony was his admission that the backlash from the podcast left him deeply depressed, pushing him to the brink of suicide. “I was so depressed. I decided to end my life,” he confessed, citing the immense public scrutiny and hateful comments he received after the interview aired.

Despite his grievances, Nwokolo took responsibility for his words, saying, “I deserve all the insults I’ve gotten so far because I was the one that said it. But I just need Nigerians to know what actually transpired.”

Nedu has yet to respond to these allegations, but given the gravity of the claims, many are awaiting his side of the story. With his recent resignation from The Honest Bunch Podcast amid controversies involving VDM and DeeOne, this latest accusation further complicates his already embattled reputation.

As this saga unfolds, one thing remains clear—Nigeria’s entertainment industry is in the midst of a scandal that could have lasting effects on its biggest personalities.
