Barcelona & Atletico Madrid

Barcelona and Atletico Madrid delivered an unforgettable match in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final, ending in a thrilling 4-4 draw.

The game, played at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, saw both teams fight back from deficits in a match full of drama and late goals.

Atletico Madrid had a dream start, scoring twice in the first six minutes. Julian Alvarez and Antoine Griezmann found the net early, assisting each other to give Atletico an early advantage. However, Barcelona responded quickly, with Pedri scoring in the 15th minute before Pau Cubarsi equalized with a header from a Raphinha corner. Just before halftime, another Raphinha corner found Inigo Martinez, who completed Barcelona’s comeback with a powerful header.

In the second half, Atletico thought they had equalized when Alexander Sorloth scored, but the goal was ruled out for offside. Barcelona capitalized on their momentum as Robert Lewandowski extended their lead, seemingly securing the win. But Atletico Madrid refused to give up. Marcos Llorente fired in a stunning goal from the edge of the box in the 84th minute, and Sorloth redeemed himself by scoring a dramatic equalizer in the final moments, ensuring the match ended in a draw.

Both teams now turn their attention to the second leg, where they will battle again for a spot in the Copa del Rey final. Raphinha was named the standout player of the match, contributing two crucial assists and playing a key role in Barcelona’s comeback.
