Woman Exposed After Attempting To Scam POS Agent With White Paper
By Gideon Ayeni

A woman was publicly disgraced in the Odo Ona Elewe area of Ibadan after attempting to defraud a POS agent using fake money—A white paper cut to the size of naira notes.
The incident, which occurred around 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, behind Taska Filling Station, has since gone viral on social media.
According to eyewitnesses, the woman approached the POS stand to initiate a transfer of ₦100,000 to an account, expecting to receive cash in return. After the transaction was completed, she handed the POS agent what appeared to be banknotes. However, it was later discovered that the supposed cash was nothing more than pieces of white paper cut to the size of naira notes.
The POS agent, unaware of the deception, initially accepted the fake money. It took the intervention of a vigilant woman nearby to alert him before the alleged diabolical trick wore off, revealing the fraud.
The situation escalated as bystanders confronted the woman, humiliating her despite her pleas and the baby strapped to her back. She reportedly claimed she had traveled to Ibadan to care for her daughter, who had recently given birth.
Fortunately, as the altercation unfolded, the husband of her daughter arrived from work. Upon realizing what had transpired, he intervened, went home to retrieve his ATM card, and transferred the rightful amount to the POS agent.
The incident left many onlookers in shock, further fueling concerns about fraudulent activities at POS stands across the country.
As at the time of compiling this report, authorities have yet to release an official statement on the diabolical act but it’s not certain if the case was later reported since the exact money was later recovered.
