Pastor Chris Music Industry Church

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, the leader of Christ Embassy, has accused a section of Christian musicians of exploiting the church for many years.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s statement, captured in a widely shared video, criticized musicians who started their careers in the church but later shifted to secular music.

He expressed disappointment that many of these artistes failed to contribute to the Christian ministry. According to him, they only used the church as a stepping stone to gain fame and financial success.

“In probably the last 40–50 years, no one has cheated the church like the music industry. What most of them have ever done was to use the church,” Oyakhilome stated.

He pointed out that several well-known singers began as church choir members or worship leaders before moving into the secular music scene. He claimed that instead of using their talents to promote spiritual growth, some took advantage of their church background for financial gain.

The pastor also warned other church leaders to be cautious when assigning important roles in the music department. He stressed that some individuals with selfish motives might return to the church carrying negative influences that could harm others.

“Satan enters into their minds to give them ideas on how to leverage the opportunity given to them in the house of God for financial reasons,” he said. “As I look at the churches, I see and I say pastors don’t give this all-important aspect of the ministry to those whose only desires are to take advantage of the church.”

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome further criticized gospel musicians who, after gaining fame, abandoned their local churches. He emphasized that any music ministry that does not have a choir will eventually decline.
