FA Cup Semi-Final Draw

The draw to determine the match-up for the FA Cup semi-final that will compete at Wembley. Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, and Aston Villa have secured their spots, while the last team will be either Bournemouth or Manchester City.

Crystal Palace earned their place with a dominant 3-0 victory against Fulham. Their next challenge will be Aston Villa, who managed to break through Preston’s defense after a goalless first half. Marcus Rashford scored twice, leading his team to a comfortable win.

Nottingham Forest will face either Bournemouth or Manchester City. Forest has relied on penalty shootouts to progress through the last three rounds, narrowly defeating Exeter, Ipswich, and Brighton. If Manchester City advances, they will aim to salvage their season with a strong FA Cup run.

Oliver Glasner, Crystal Palace’s manager, has downplayed talk of winning the trophy. He stated, “I don’t want to talk about winning a trophy because even in the next game we can’t win a trophy. It is just the semi-finals.”

He emphasized that every cup competition is about striving for victory, saying, “When you enter a cup competition it doesn’t matter if you lose in round number one or the semi-finals, we enter the competition to win it.”

Glasner also highlighted the excitement of playing at Wembley, adding, “It is a great achievement to play the semi-final and especially in that environment at Wembley as it is always something special.”

The semi-final matches are scheduled for the weekend of April 26 and 27. The FA Cup final will take place on May 17, just before the end of the Premier League season. There will be no top-flight fixtures on that day, ensuring full attention on the cup final.

Aston Villa’s journey continues with a Champions League quarter-final against PSG, making the upcoming weeks crucial for their season. Marcus Rashford’s recent goals have come at an important time as Villa prepares for high-stakes matches.

When asked about wearing a special suit for the Wembley match, Glasner responded with humor. “You don’t like my jumper? No, I’ve just planned for tonight and my dinner. If we have to arrive in a suit we will arrive in a suit. But the game is in four weeks’ time.”

He also stressed the importance of preparation, saying, “Tomorrow at 11 am, we will be on the pitch and train. Half of the team will recover; the other team will train tough, because Monday we’re off.”

With the semi-finals approaching, the remaining teams are getting ready for the challenge. The road to Wembley is set, and fans are eager to see who will advance to the FA Cup final.
