Renowned gospel singer Sola Allyson has hit back at critics who accused her of avoiding the mention of Jesus in her songs, a controversy that erupted following remarks by veteran gospel musician Dr. Panam Percy Paul.

The backlash against Allyson intensified after Dr. Panam Percy Paul revealed that he once turned down a £24 million deal in 1995 to ensure that the name of Jesus remained central in his music. Some netizens used his revelation to question Allyson’s artistic choices, leading to intense scrutiny and criticism.

Responding on X (formerly Twitter), Allyson did not hold back, calling out what she described as bullying and manipulation from those trying to impose their beliefs on her.

She slammed her critics for being unkind and judgmental, arguing that their approach only pushes people away rather than drawing them closer to faith.

In a strongly worded post, she wrote:

“Why are you people this callous and unkind? If this is what you are with your own Jesus, I don’t want to be identified with you lots! Can you see why truly awakened souls distance themselves from you?”

She further questioned the intentions behind the backlash:

“Or is it that you are desperately looking for an addition of light-souls in your dark space and you must bully them into joining you? Or do you have low self-esteem and don’t feel enough without me? Because, kò yé mi (I don’t understand).”

Allyson maintained that her faith and artistic expression remain deeply personal, adding that she refuses to be manipulated into conforming to rigid religious expectations.

“This Is Bullying!” – Allyson Expresses Pain Over Criticism

In another post, the singer admitted that the relentless criticism brought her to tears, but she resolved not to be forced into conforming.

She directed a message at one of her most vocal critics, stating:

“Once again, no one can bully me into joining their darkness that looks like light because indolent souls find comfort in it… Yes, I am human. It gets to me sometimes. Like now. Because of my personal struggles.”

Allyson emphasized that the Jesus she knows does not force or manipulate people into following Him, and she vowed to continue expressing her faith in her own way.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time Sola Allyson has come under fire for her unique gospel style. Critics have often accused her of being too subtle about her Christian message, while her supporters argue that her music speaks to the heart in a deeply spiritual way.

Despite the ongoing debate, Allyson remains steadfast in her artistic choices, refusing to be pressured into conforming to traditional gospel norms.
