Kano Emir’s Vigilante Stabbed

Kano Police have arrested a 20-year-old for allegedly stabbing an Emir’s vigilante to death after Eid prayers and launched a manhunt for his collaborators.

Law enforcement in Kano State has taken a 20-year-old individual into custody after he and some collaborators allegedly stabbed a vigilante in Kano.

The suspect, who resides in Sharifai Quarters, was linked to the fatal stabbing that happened after Eid prayers on Sunday, March 30.

The violent incident unfolded around 12:40 pm as worshippers were leaving the prayer grounds. According to authorities, the suspect, along with accomplices still at large, targeted the vigilantes. During the assault, a man named Surajo Rabiu from Sabon Titi Jaba Quarters was stabbed, resulting in fatal injuries.

Another vigilante group member, Aminu Suleman from Kofar Mata Quarters, was seriously wounded and is currently receiving medical care at Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital.

A thorough investigation is underway, with officials actively working to track down the other individuals involved in the attack. In connection with the inquiry, Shamakin Kano, Alhaji Wada Isyaku, has also been summoned for questioning.

The Kano State Police Command reaffirmed that Durbar celebrations remain strictly prohibited, warning that any defiance of this order will have legal consequences. They also reinforced their commitment to eliminating acts of violence and public disturbances.

“We urge the public to remain calm and cooperate with the police as we work to ensure peace and security in Kano State,” the police statement emphasized after the Kano emir’s vigilante was stabbed.
