VeryDarkMan: Lagos Govt Speaks On Viral Poo Video!
By Benjamin Abioye

The Lagos government has responded to a viral video showing VeryDarkMan confronting a man defecating on the road, urging residents to help keep the city clean and use public toilets.
The Lagos State Government has reacted after a video of a man defecating openly on a road in Ikeja went viral online.
The video was recorded by popular social media activist, VeryDarkMan, who caught the man in the act and confronted him.
In the video shared on his social media page, VeryDarkMan came down from his car and told the man to pack his mess. He also expressed disappointment at people who passed by without stopping the man. According to him, this type of behavior is what makes people say Lagos is a dirty city.
“Which kind thing be this? Person dey mess road, and everybody just dey waka pass like say e normal. That thing wey that NYSC girl talk say Lagos dey smell fit be true o,” he said, referring to an earlier comment made by a corps member.
After the video went viral, the Lagos State Government praised VeryDarkMan for taking action and promoting cleanliness. The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, reacted on social media.
He said, “Recently, the Lagos state government launched an Anti-Open-Defecation team to monitor some parts of Lagos, making sure residents and visitors make use of the public toilets provided in different locations across the state. A total of 1,710 (not counting those in filling stations statewide).”
He further explained that the government was working hard to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment in Lagos. He added that despite criticism from some people, the government will not stop doing the right thing.
“Lagos, under the Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led administration is committed to a cleaner, healthier Lagos – regardless of how politicised our efforts may be by those who choose not to see the bigger picture. We cannot afford to be deterred and we will keep on doing our part while calling on well-meaning Nigerians and indeed, Lagosians to encourage all residents to do the right thing at all times,” Wahab said.
The government’s message was clear — keeping the environment clean is a duty for everyone. It urged residents to always use the public toilets available across the state and not defecate openly.
Meanwhile, the video shared by VeryDarkMan continues to spark reactions online, with many Nigerians praising him for standing up against bad behavior and promoting environmental responsibility.
