Video: Itsekiri Activists Shut Warri Oil Facility
By Benjamin Abioye

Some Itsekiri natives have shut down a 28,000 barrels per day oil facility in Warri, Delta State, over INEC’s ward delineation plan.
Some residents of Itsekiri community in Warri, Delta State, on Wednesday, April 9, shut down an oil production facility producing 28,000 barrels of oil per day in Ogidigben.
The protesters, made up of men, women, and youths, stormed the oil facility, which was formerly managed by Shell Petroleum Development Company but recently taken over by Renaissance Africa Energy Holdings.
They said their action was to show their displeasure over a recent recommendation by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) concerning the delineation of wards and polling units in Warri Federal Constituency.
The protesters warned that if nothing was done quickly about the matter, they would extend their protest to other vital national assets and facilities located in Itsekiri land.
This protest happened just a week after INEC announced its plan to carry out the delineation exercise in Warri Federal Constituency following a judgment by the Supreme Court.
