Five-Star Comeback As Manchester City Humble Crystal Palace
By Benjamin Abioye

Manchester City pulled off a stunning comeback at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, defeating Crystal Palace 5-2 after falling behind by two goals within the first 21 minutes.
Crystal Palace started the match in electrifying fashion. Eberechi Eze opened the scoring in the 8th minute, converting a precise pass from Ismaila Sarr to silence the home crowd. Things quickly worsened for Manchester City as Chris Richards made it 2-0 in the 21st minute, heading in a powerful goal from a corner and giving Palace the upper hand.
But the reigning champions were far from finished.
Kevin De Bruyne began the comeback in the 33rd minute with a brilliant free kick that bounced in off the post. Just three minutes later, Omar Marmoush capitalized on a loose ball in the box to equalize at 2-2, shifting the momentum firmly in City’s favor.
Palace almost regained the lead before halftime when Eze found the net again, but the goal was ruled out for offside — a call that will likely be debated.
City’s dominance continued into the second half. Mateo Kovacic scored just two minutes after the restart with a powerful strike from outside the box, giving City the lead for the first time.
In the 56th minute, James McAtee extended the lead to 4-2, finishing off a long, accurate pass from goalkeeper Ederson. The final goal for Manchester City came in the 79th minute when young Nico O’Reilly’s deflected shot beat Palace goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, completing the comeback and sending the Etihad crowd into celebration.
What started as a potential upset ended in a resounding statement from Manchester City.
