In a now-viral video from his sermon, the Abuja-based clergyman interrupted his ministration to question the relationship between the engaged couple sitting together in the congregation.

Upon learning that the couple was engaged and preparing for marriage, Prophet Ogebe expressed strong disapproval of their behavior—specifically, the woman resting her head on her fiancé’s hand during the service.

The visibly displeased pastor stressed that such intimacy was not suitable within the church setting, especially between a couple not yet officially married. He added that despite being married himself, his wife had never behaved in such a manner in public, let alone during a church program.

Addressing the couple directly, he warned the man to take leadership and responsibility in the relationship, stating, “You’re not married yet, and she’s already sleeping on your hand in church?”

Prophet Ogebe concluded the rebuke of the engaged couple with a piercing rhetorical question:
“If you can openly sleep on each other’s hand in church, what might you be doing in secret?”

The moment has since triggered widespread reactions online, with many supporting the pastor’s stance on maintaining decorum in places of worship, while others argue that his approach was unnecessarily harsh towards the engaged couple.
