A viral video has sent the social media abuzz, capturing the moment several Nigerian police officers were seen collecting N5,000 cash each from an unidentified Chinese man in what many have described as a shocking display of impropriety.
In the footage, the Chinese national is seen handing out N5,000 notes to uniformed officers one after the other. The policemen, visibly pleased, accepted the cash with wide smiles and no hesitation—some even showing signs of gratitude and excitement.

While the motive behind the cash handout remains unknown, the scene has drawn widespread criticism from Nigerians online, who say the action portrays the Nigeria Police Force in a negative light.
Many netizens have described the act as disgraceful, accusing the officers of reducing themselves to beggars in uniform and questioning the integrity of a force meant to uphold law and order.
As of the time of filing this report, the Nigeria Police Force is yet to issue an official statement on the incident or the identity of the Chinese man involved. However, calls are growing louder for the Inspector-General of Police to investigate the matter and restore public confidence in the system.
