“This Is My 16th Year In Banking And Nothing To Show For It” — Nigerian Banker Cries Out (Video)
By Gideon Ayeni

A video making the rounds on social media has captured the emotional outburst of a Nigerian banker who expressed deep frustration over his stagnation after spending 16 years in the banking industry.
In the clip, the visibly distressed young man lamented that despite dedicating over a decade and a half to the banking sector, he has achieved nothing tangible. He questioned his own fate, wondering if he had been spiritually manipulated or “used,” as his years of service have yielded no meaningful progress.
“This is my 16th year in banking, and there’s absolutely nothing to show for it,” he said. “I don’t understand. Maybe I’ve been used.”
While acknowledging that some individuals in the banking industry appear to be doing well, he suggested that their financial success may be tied to external ventures or sources of income outside the job itself.
“Banking job will shock you like orange and throw you away,” he said, using a vivid metaphor to describe the harsh realities of the profession.

He concluded by making a heartfelt appeal, stating that he’s open to new opportunities and willing to leave the banking sector entirely if anyone can assist him in securing a better job.
“If you see work anywhere, please help me. I’m ready to leave this banking for something better.”
The video has sent the social media abuzz, with many Nigerians relating to his struggles and using the moment to reflect on the harsh economic conditions and career frustrations facing many professionals in the country today.
