Olubadan Council Removes Two Mogajis Over Misconduct
By Benjamin Abioye

Following complaints from their families and other serious issues, two Mogajis in Ibadan have been dismissed with immediate effect by the Olubadan and his advisory council.
The Olubadan Advisory Council has removed two Mogajis (family heads) from their positions in Ibadan.
This decision was made after receiving complaints from members of their families and other serious issues that were not fully explained.
A statement released on Friday confirmed that the dismissal of the two men takes effect immediately. It was approved by both the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, and the Advisory Council.
The individuals affected are Chief Musilu Yekini Olaoye from the Peluseriki Compound in Isale Osi and Chief Rasaki Funso Ayinde Oguntobi from the Oloola Ogungbesan Compound in Bode, Ibadan.
According to the statement, “The Mogajis’ removal followed protests from their family members and other serious misconduct.” The council further warned both men not to act or present themselves as Mogajis anymore.
In a different event, the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams, advised people to stop comparing traditional rulers. He said, “Stop comparing who is senior between Alaafin of Oyo, Ooni of Ife.” This warning was given during the Oke Ibadan Festival 2025 held at Mapo Hall, Ibadan.
He added that such comparisons are not helpful and could cause tension. “It could heat the polity and is unnecessary,” he said.
