Building Collapse Lagos Ojodu-Berger

A multi-storey building collapsed in the Ojodu-Berger area of Lagos on Saturday morning, trapping an unknown number of people. Emergency responders have begun rescue operations at the scene.

A multi-storey building located on Oremeta Street, in the Ojodu-Berger area of Lagos State, collapsed on Saturday morning, trapping several individuals beneath the rubble.

The building, which was under construction, also contained the well-known EqualRight Restaurant. The collapse occurred around 8 am, catching both the people inside and those passing by off guard.

An anonymous eyewitness shared that the cause of the collapse is still unknown but described the building as a “bomb waiting to explode.” The witness expressed fear about the building’s condition, saying, “Anyone who knows that building should know that it was a bomb waiting to explode. I hardly go there to buy food because I was always scared the building would collapse while I’m there.”

As of now, the exact number of people trapped under the debris is unclear, but emergency responders have already begun rescue operations. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) arrived at the scene and is coordinating the rescue efforts while waiting for other relevant government agencies to join the operation.

Onlookers and residents have gathered around the location, anxiously awaiting news about the fate of those trapped inside. Updates on the situation will follow as rescue operations continue.
