Sunday Dare, the Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has lashed out at Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the former vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party, over comments he made during a television interview.

In a strongly worded post shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Dare described Baba-Ahmed’s arguments as “illogical,” “flawed,” and “devoid of reason.” According to him, listening to the LP chieftain’s political projections is akin to enduring the baseless New Year prophecies of self-proclaimed prophets.

“He must have as well dropped from space, going by what he spewed out during the interview,” Dare remarked, accusing Baba-Ahmed of lacking both political insight and honesty.

Dare mocked the former LP VP candidate’s claims that President Tinubu would not win re-election in 2027, suggesting that his conclusions were not only unsubstantiated but also out of touch with political reality. He insisted that Baba-Ahmed conveniently avoided assessing Tinubu’s performance and leadership capacity, choosing instead to dwell on antecedents and vague electoral hopes.

“Politics is not for theorists or the faint-hearted,” Dare wrote. “It is for those with a solid track record, courage, vision, and competence—qualities Baba-Ahmed clearly lacks.”

The former Minister of Youth and Sports also faulted Baba-Ahmed’s assertion that President Tinubu had failed to fulfill his campaign promises. Citing recent comments by IMF representative Ari Aisen and IMF Mission Chief for Nigeria, Axel Schimmelpfennig, Dare argued that Tinubu’s reforms have put Nigeria’s economy on a more sustainable path.

He added that Baba-Ahmed and other “Presidential Wannabes” would need “all the marines available” to unseat Tinubu in 2027, asserting that the President’s track record will pave the way for a comfortable victory.

In a final jab, Dare advised the Labour Party stalwart to take a break from the media rounds and “seriously consider how to rehabilitate his failed political career.”

“Politics is a complicated art. If Datti Baba-Ahmed is smart, he will simply keep quiet and leave it to those equipped for it,” he concluded.
