Tragedy has struck the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State as the Ward 5 Chairman in Ose Local Government Area, Nelson Adepoyigi, who was abducted days ago, has been confirmed dead in the hands of his kidnappers.

Adepoyigi was reportedly kidnapped last Monday while attempting to park his car at his residence in Ifon, a community plagued by increasing insecurity.

Following his abduction, the kidnappers initially demanded a staggering N100 million ransom. After intense negotiations and pleas from family and community members, the amount was reduced to N5 million.

However, the situation took a devastating turn when two community members from Ifon volunteered to deliver the negotiated ransom. Upon arrival, the kidnappers seized the two men and demanded an additional N30 million for the release of all three captives.

Sources within the community revealed that the two volunteers were eventually freed. Shockingly, the abductors disclosed that Adepoyigi had been “marked for death” by those allegedly responsible for orchestrating the kidnap — a revelation that has raised serious concerns about political conspiracies and security breakdowns in the area.

Confirming the tragic development, the Chairman of Ose Local Government, Kolapo Ojo, expressed deep concern over the worsening state of insecurity in the region.

“This pattern of brazen abductions, even at the very gates of people’s homes, confirms that insecurity has taken a dangerous and intolerable dimension,” Ojo said.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities. “We must stand united as a community and work together to overcome this threat,” he added.
