Video: Fans React To Alleged Failed Assassination Of Portable
By Benjamin Abioye

Portable raised public concern after claiming that someone tried to inject him during a performance in Ikorodu, likening it to an assassination following the same plot that led to the death of Mohbad.
Nigerian street-hop artist Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, sparked concern after a performance in Ikorodu, Lagos, ended in panic with an alleged assassination plot.
During the show, Portable claimed someone from the crowd tried to inject him with a substance, an incident that immediately reminded him of the late singer Mohbad’s tragic end.
In a video shared on his Instagram, the singer narrated the incident, alleging that a man emerged from the audience and attempted to jab him mid-performance in an apparent assassination attempt.
He described the moment as life-threatening. “I went to perform in Ikorodu, and they injected me. They want to kill me like they did to Mohbad. I was performing when a guy just ran out from the crowd to inject me. I slammed the mic on him,” he stated.
The commotion that followed left the singer with a leg injury. Although there was no physical altercation, Portable said the situation got chaotic as fans surged toward him in a frenzy. “We didn’t fight each other at the show. It was just chaos. See, if they had tried to fight me, I would have retaliated. But in the process of trying to embrace me, they hit my leg,” he added.
The post quickly went viral, drawing mixed reactions from fans and the public. While many expressed genuine concern for his safety and urged him to seek immediate medical attention, others were skeptical or made light of the situation.
One commenter wrote, “Abeg go hospital go check yourself because of the injection wey you talk say dem shook you,” urging Portable not to take chances. Another added with a warning: “Make you sha no call nurse give you injection o, anyone wey dem use jazz knack must not take injection else na kpai straight.” Meanwhile, some users took a humorous spin, with one saying, “To afford bandage now don hard Portable. Omo sapa no good oooo.”
Others praised him as a resilient figure in the entertainment scene, with one fan calling him “Irunmọlẹ Naija music industry!”—a lighthearted way of saying he’s untouchable in the music space.
Despite the seriousness of the claim, no independent confirmation has been made about the alleged attack. Still, the incident has reignited conversations about safety in Nigeria’s entertainment industry, especially in live event settings.
As fans await further updates, many are urging Portable to take his health seriously and consult medical professionals to rule out any actual danger following the alleged injection incident.
