Imo Local Government beheaded

Collins Alaefula, a wedding guest who was kidnapped with two others after leaving the wedding ceremony in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area, Imo State on August 28, has been released by his kidnappers.

Alaefula was released on Saturday after his relatives allegedly raised the entire ransom demanded by his kidnappers. He was the last of the three wedding guests kidnapped by their abductors.

On September 9, his kidnappers allegedly released the two others, Mmadu Promise and Victor Chibuike, who were kidnapped alongside him, after they allegedly paid the money their kidnappers demanded, asking Alaefula’s relatives to rally around to complete the amount imposed on him as a condition for his release.

“Alaefula Collins, one of the three young men kidnapped over three weeks ago, has finally been released,” a source said.

“The kidnappers refused to release him and his two other friends last week because, according to the family, his ransom was insufficient.”

The victims, who were riding in a gray Lexus 330 vehicle, went missing on August 28 after leaving a wedding ceremony in Isiala Mbano LGA for Owerri, their base.

After their whereabouts were unknown, their families declared them missing and reportedly reported the situation to the Owerri Police Station.

Their kidnappers allegedly contacted their families a few days later and demanded an undisclosed sum of money in exchange for their release.

Micheal Abattam, the Imo state police spokesperson, had yet to respond to an inquiry that the wedding guest had been released after weeks in custody.
