Ooni To Marry Ijebu Princess As Sixth Wife On Monday, Oct 24

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, is set to marry an Ijebu princess, Temitope Adesegun, on Monday October 24, 2022 as his sixth wife within two months.

The confirmation of the royal marriage was made by the Ooni’s spokesperson, Moses Olafare on his facebook page on Sunday.

“Olori Temitope Adesegun Ogunwusi, an Ijebu Princess cum Ile-Ife Queen. Tomorrow is the D-day,” the post read.

GWG.NG reports that the marriage is coming four days after the Ooni married Princess Ademiluyi as his fifth wife.

The six marriages of the Ooni in the last two months were preceded by the walk out of his first two wives after he became a monarch.

The royal monarch’s first wife was Adebukola Bambota who he married as a prince of Ife in 2008, well before he ascended the throne.

The marriage packed up before he became king and he married Olori Zainab Wuraola who walked away from her marriage to the Osun monarch not long after the marriage for yet unexplained reasons. The royal monarch was without an official consort for some time after that before the royal monarch married Akure based prophetess, Silekunola Naomi.

The high point of that marriage was that she gave him his first male child but in December 2021 she announced the end of that marriage on Instagram.

Between then and September 2022, the royal monarch was again without an official consort and from which time he has now married five wives in quick succession within two months with the sixth coming in this Monday.

GWG.NG reports that in September 2022, the Ooni married for the fourth time to Olori Mariam Anako, from Ebira land in Kogi State. Following then he married Olori Elizabeth Ogunwunsi in a ceremony in Magodo, Lagos.

He also not long after married Tobi Phillips and Ashley Adegoke before the October 20, 2022 marriage with Princess Aderonke Ademiluyi.

While some see the marriages of the Ooni as fitting with tradition, the speed with which he has contracted them has thrown up debate among some on social media.

The monarch married Mariam Anako, from Ebira, Kogi State on September 6, 2022. She was an admin manager at Nestoil Limited.

Oba Ogunwusi married Elizabeth Akinmudai in Magodo, Lagos State, shortly after his marriage to Anako. She hails from Ondo State.

On October 9, 2022, he married his third wife, Tobiloba Philips, a former beauty queen from Okitipupa in Ondo State.

The monarch took Ashley Adegoke, a princess from Ile-Ife as his 4th wife and on Thursday, October 20, 2022, he married Ronke Ademiluyi, the founder of African Fashion Week and great-granddaughter of the 48th Ooni of Ife, Ajagun Ademiluyi and is now set for his sixth wife.
