Simon Harris Sworn In As Ireland’s Youngest Prime Minister

Simon Harris has made history as Ireland’s youngest ever prime minister. GWG.ng reports that he took office on Tuesday amidst promises to inject “new energy” into the role while acknowledging the challenges ahead.

At 37 years old, Harris stepped into the position following the sudden resignation of his predecessor, Leo Varadkar, who cited personal and political reasons for his departure.

Harris, a member of the centre-right Fine Gael party, was unanimously elected as the party’s leader and subsequently confirmed as prime minister by Ireland’s parliament with a vote of 88 to 69. The official installation ceremony took place in the presence of President Michael D. Higgins.
