Shehu Sani on PDP-Wike

Former Kaduna State Senator, Shehu Sani, made a lighthearted comment that has stirred up public reactions on the ongoing issue between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Senator Sani shared his humorous thoughts on X (formerly known as Twitter), where he questioned how the PDP delivered their letter summoning Wike. In his words, Sani said, “I wonder how the PDP delivered the letter of summons to my brother Wike, whether it’s hand to hand or by Email or Snapchat.”

This post has since generated a wide range of responses from the public, many of whom found humor in the situation despite its seriousness. Some questioned Wike’s loyalty to the PDP, while others pointed out the party’s challenges in handling such internal conflicts.

Here are a few reactions:

@JesusNotGod_: All of you guys are not serious. You’re just taking turns to take the country for a joke.

These reactions reflect the divided opinions on Wike’s recent stance and the actions of the PDP. Some believe Wike is acting above the party, while others view the PDP as weak and struggling to handle internal opposition.

The Core Issue: PDP Summons Wike

The whole situation stems from Wike’s alleged anti-party activities. The PDP issued a summons to Wike, the former governor of Rivers State, due to his public criticisms of the party and apparent support for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Wike has been in conflict with the PDP leadership since the party’s presidential primary last year. In a recent TV interview, Wike dared the PDP to expel him, boasting about his contributions to the party, including helping install several governors, senators, and lawmakers.

He also accused some PDP leaders of secretly working with the APC government, particularly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, by nominating candidates for appointments.

PDP’s Reaction and Past Conflicts

In response to Wike’s bold remarks, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Ibrahim Abdullahi, confirmed that Wike had been sent a letter to appear before the party’s disciplinary committee. “Wike should be able to manage his words carefully,” Abdullahi said. “That was a very disappointing remark. We weren’t expecting him to say that.”

This situation highlights ongoing conflicts within the PDP. Wike’s opposition to the zoning of the presidential ticket to the North and his actions against the party’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in the last election have only added to the tension.

The future remains uncertain as the PDP continues to wrestle with internal disputes, and Wike’s response to the party’s summons remains unclear.

Despite the seriousness of the issue, Shehu Sani’s humorous take has brought some lightness to the situation.
