In a heartwarming yet controversial gesture, Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin, founder of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry, popularly known as Mercyland Church, has donated N2.5 million to a woman who gave birth to a set of sextuplets. .

The donation by Prophet Fufeyin to the mother of the sextuplets was captured in a video now making rounds on social media. It showed Prophet Jeremiah handing over the cash as part of his support to the overwhelmed family.

However, despite the generosity, the act has been met with sharp criticism from netizens. Many have taken to the comment section of the viral video to accuse the prophet of attempting to divert attention from the ongoing controversy surrounding his church. Critics linked the donation to his current legal battles, which center around the sale of his controversial “miracle water” and “miracle soap,” products that he claims have miraculous powers to bring wealth and eradicate poverty.

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) recently issued a memo cautioning Nigerians against purchasing these unregistered products, following an online exposé by popular social media activist Verydarkman. The activist had accused Prophet Jeremiah of selling potentially dangerous, unverified products to the public. In response, the prophet filed a lawsuit against Verydarkman, demanding N1 billion in damages. The case is still ongoing in court.

While some users on social media praised the prophet for his charitable donation, others were quick to suggest that it was a calculated move to distract from the negative publicity. Comments from some netizens argued that this act of kindness was merely an attempt to cover up his alleged wrongdoings, while others noted the silence of Verydarkman on this positive news, speculating that he would have been quick to react if the news were negative.

Read some netizens’ reactions to the donation to the family of the sextuplets by Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin;

@youngemmanuelj: People won’t see this and commend him oo, VDM won’t see this oo, but make e be b@d news, fiam, e don fly 🙃

@onlineguru: That’s their way after messing up they resolve to doing give away but why didn’t he just give the woman the miracle money 🤷‍♂️

@naija_eyes: Heaven is far from this men , true men of God won’t do this public show of help

@wayas_opinion: He for give am stone

But this is the only pastorish thing i’ve heard he did

@odukoyeisaac: This is why I condemn the unecessary act of recording while giving to people!!!!

Even the Bible says But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

This is a terrible thing to do from a man of God

As the legal battles continue, Prophet Jeremiah remains a polarizing figure online, with supporters hailing his good deeds and detractors raising concerns over his alleged exploitation of vulnerable people through unapproved products.
