Gov Okpebholo Unveils Five-Point Agenda
Governor Okpebholo has emphasized the welfare of Edo citizens as the top priority of his administration following his introduction of a “Five-Point Agenda,” crafted to drive economic growth and improve the lives of the people.
Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, pledged on Tuesday to remain true to the trust placed in him by the people who elected him as their leader in pursuing an agenda that will benefit the citizenry.
He made the promise during his inauguration as the sixth elected governor of the state.
In his speech, Governor Okpebholo emphasized that the welfare of Edo citizens would be the top priority of his administration. He introduced his administration’s “Five-Point Agenda,” which he said was crafted to drive economic growth and improve the lives of the people of Edo State.
Governor Okpebholo listed the five key areas of of his agenda to include: Security, Infrastructure and Road Development, Affordable Healthcare, Water and Food Sufficiency, and Value-Driven Education. Okpebholo stressed that these areas would form the foundation of his governance, ensuring that the state’s growth benefits all citizens.
Okpebholo, who previously served as a senator for Edo Central, was elected as governor on September 21, 2024. He secured the position after defeating 16 other candidates in the governorship election, including his closest rival, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The governor was sworn in alongside his deputy, Dennis Idahosa, a former lawmaker who represented Ovia Federal Constituency in the National Assembly.
