Mr. Ibrahim Magu, the suspended acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC was suspended after two former military chiefs reported how he acted against them, Olusegun Adeniyi, influential newspaper columnist and former aide to the late President Umaru Yar`Adua has said.

Adeniyi mentioned General Theophilus Danjuma and General Abdulsalami Abubakar according to the columnist reported how Magu acted against them.

Writing in his Thisday column on Thursday, Adeniyi who served as Special Adviser on Media and Strategy to President Yar`Adua wrote:

“Former Defence Minister, Lt General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (rtd) was recently at the villa to see President Muhammadu Buhari. It was a visit borne out of rage. A billionaire oil tycoon, Danjuma had paid for the purchase of an aircraft. His cheque bounced!

“The order to withhold payment, he was told by his banker, came from Magu! From what I gathered, it took some time before the president could convince Danjuma that he knew nothing about what was clearly power mongering by a reckless public official.

“A few weeks before that incident, the Minna residence of former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar was raided by EFCC operatives who “turned the house upside down”. The president also got to know only after the deed had been done,” Adeniyi wrote.

Adeniyi had in a piece he wrote in 2017 narrated how President Yar`Adua in 2008 called him into his office and told him how draft newspaper articles painting negative images about the government were found in Magu’s personal computer.

Among the articles was one titled “How Turai is ruling Nigeria”
