A 48-hour curfew effective from Thursday evening has been slapped on Delta State, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has announced.

The governor made the declaration when he spoke to reporters at the Government House, Asaba on Thursday morning.

Arising from the declaration, the governor also disclosed that the scheduled presentation of the 2021 budget estimates of the state government to the State House of Assembly has been postponed indefinitely.

Public and private schools who only recently reopened have been shut till November 2, 2020.

The development followed tension in Asaba, the state capital as protesters barricaded major streets in the town.

It was gathered that the declaration followed disturbances on Wednesday night in some parts of Asaba, near the Agbor-Asaba Expressway.

Hoodlums who infiltrated the #EndSARS protest allegedly rained mayhem on the offices of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC along the highway.
