Umahi’s Defection Plot Thickens As Foot Soldiers Meet

Moves by Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State to defect to the All Progressives Congress, APC have continued with his political allies putting finishing touches to the defection plan.

GWG gathered that in the latest development, local government coordinators from all 64 development centres in the state met on Tuesday towards perfecting what they are promising to be a massive political earthquake.

It was, however, gathered that National Assembly members belonging to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP have been largely lukewarm towards the idea with a majority of the members not yielding to the governor’s plan.

However, a majority of the state lawmakers it was learnt may have finally been won over and hence the recent ultimatum from the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Mr. Francis Nwifiru to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to zone its 2023 presidential ticket to the Southeast or face strong consequences from the state.

The threat is believed to be cited as justification for the governor’s defection to the APC.

GWG gathered that the 64 co-ordinators of the local government development centres met in Abakaliki on Tuesday in furtherance of the defection plot where strategies to be employed in mobilizing the grassroots towards the APC were reportedly taken.
