Nigerian Billionaire, Harry Akande Dies Of COVID-19

Chief Harry Akande one of Nigeria’s richest men ever who dazzled the world bringing African class in his interactions from Hollywood to American board rooms has died of COVID-19 complications.

He was aged 77.

His death was announced on Saturday afternoon by Dele Momodu on twitter.

Momodu tweeted thus:

One of the richest men ever of his generation before the emergence of Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Akande made his money in investments in the West and had investments also in his native country Nigeria.

After starting his career at KPMG he soon established his own company, Akande International Corporation, in 1971.

He attempted to succeed President Ibrahim Babangida and brought some touch of class in his campaign moving around the country in helicopters but his attempt was not successful.

He was born in Ibadan in 1943.
