Governor Abdulrhaman Abdulrazaq has given the minister of information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, and his supporters in the Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC a deadline of Monday to drop their agitations against him or be thrown out of the party. The vow to throw Lai out of APC follows the spate of crises in the state chapter.

Speaking against the background of the agitations by Lai’s supporters against the removal of Bashir Bolarinwa, BOB as the caretaker chairman of the state chapter of the APC, Abdulrazaq said the party would on Monday take decisive actions against those he described as dissidents.

According to the governor, the ‘dissidents’ had been plotting from Abuja against the membership registration exercise.

GWG reports that Lai Mohammed was the leader of the party who led the Otoge revolution that brought down the Bukola Saraki hegemony in Kwara and enthroned Abdulrazaq as governor.

However, since the ascent of the governor the party has been riven in crisis with attempts by supporters of the governor to enthrone a new power locus outside Lai Mohammed.

But responding openly to the agitations at a constituency outreach orgainsed by Senator Ibrahim Oloreigbe, APC, Kwara Central, the governor warned those who he alleged to be plotting against him to either reform themselves or leave the party.

The threat was easily decoded as meaning a vow to throw Lai out of APC.

The governor affirmed that enough security has been provided to ensure that the planned registration of party members is successful.

“We want to call on our members and others who are interested in our party to troop out in large numbers for the APC membership registration scheduled to commence from Tuesday this week. Adequate security arrangement had been provided. So, you need not entertaining fear about your security.

“It has come to our notice that some people were hatching series of plots from Abuja to stop APC membership registration. They went to court to challenge the process when it has already begun. This was designed to frustrate the exercise but we are unperturbed.

“However, we need to sound a note of warning that those fanning ember of disaffection in our party risk suspension. The APC leadership will take decisive action on them on Monday so that our people can have rest of mind,” he said in respect of his threat to throw Lai out of APC alongside his supporters.

“From our own end, we can assure you again that there is no cause for alarm. Our members and those interested in the party should go to their polling unit from Tuesday and register”, AbdulRazaq said.
