How God Looked Away From The Murmurs Of Israel
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink. Numbers 20: 7-8.
In the face of the seeming rebellion and agitation by the people over their lack of resources (water), God did not address them on their rebellion.
Rather, He quietly told Moses and Aaron to give them their heart desires.
That was God’s pattern; of giving in when they exceedingly lusted.
But it was often at the price of spiritual growth. Psalm 106:14-15.
Despite our sins and sometimes wrong desires, God does not bring the sledge hammer of judgment immediately against us.
He even sometimes gives in and allows us to have our exceedingly great lusts.
This is because He “is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.
He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.”
Psalm 103: 7-10.
Beloved, may God keep our focus on Him, and may we not leave the bounds of His mercy.
Even more is the lesson from God to not always chide the errors and failures of those around us.
Did you not see that God did not immediately chide them?
May God give us the heart to bear all things in the face of betrayals and the failures of men around us.
