The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) says electronic transmission of election results from polling units remains a tall order and unrealistic goal.
Ubale Maska, the NCC commissioner of technical, made this known when he appeared before the House of Representatives on Friday.
Maska disclosed that 49% of polling unit lacked the infrastructure to support electronic transmission of election results as there is no network.
He said the commission carried out a survey in 2018 of all the polling units in Nigeria.
Maska and three others represented the NCC Executive Vice Chairman, Umar Danbatta, who was unable to attend the session.
It would be recalled that the consideration of the bill had ended in deadlock due to disagreement on section 52 of the bill.
