Anambra: Emodi’s Defection Boon For APC – Ngene

Chief Dennis Ngene, All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain  says APC now has brighter chances to win Anambra November 6 election following defection of some  bigwigs from the opposition parties to their fold among whom he pointed at Senator Joy Emodi’s defection.

Ngene, former executive chairman of Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra made the statement in an interview with journalists on Thursday in Awka.

Ngene  a staunch supporter of Sen. Andy Uba, APC governorship candidate in the Nov.6 election and popularly known as (Ikenga Ebenebe)  said supporters of the party were emboldened by the calibre of personalities now joining the party.

“Just yesterday, Sen. Joy Emodi,  a Board of Trustees (BOT) member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Anambra joined APC as well as seven other members of National Working Committee of her former party.

“Especially that of Emodi is a big boost to us in Anambra because we know her capacity and what she is capable of doing politically when it comes to election “, he said.

Ngene who described Emodi as a ‘political Amazon’, said the combined effect of her and Andy Uba as well as other notable politicians  have given APC more than 75 percent hope in the Nov.6 election already.

Besides noting that Emodi’s defection would boost the party, he said that the 2021 governorship election was a nice opportunity for the state to end 16 years of lackluster leadership of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra.Ngene noted that the state had lost some much politically by playing what he called ‘lone political game’ with APGA.

Listing all that the state and other states of the South-East have benefited from more than six years rule of APC, he said that Anambra would be properly positioned if the state join the league of APC controlled states next year.

Ngene, a member of Sen. Andy Uba campaign organisation committee, hinted that the party was articulating  novel political campaign programmes to stun the people of the state.

“Sen. Andy Uba is a good man and two-team senator of Anambra South Senatorial District, his records speak volume and his achievements will be highlighted alongside that of President Muhammadu Buhari during the campaigns.

“Another wonderful flavour is the perfect March our candidate made in the choice of Barr. Emeka Okafor as his running mate and this young man with interest in woman and youth development will make APC outing hitch-free”, he said.
