El-Zakzaky: Indicted Shites Will Face Terrorism Charges – Police

The Inspector- General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris has put all Commissioners of Police on alert towards checking the activities of the Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky led Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN).
Acting police force spokesman, acting DCP Jimoh Moshood in a statement on Tuesday said that commissioners of police in states likely to face the unrest had been directed to decisively deal with the issue according to the rule of law.
He also said that the IGP had directed investigation and eventual prosecution of 400 suspects apprehended over the protests in Abuja. He vowed that those indicted especially those involved in the arson attack on the police and its vehicle would be charged with terrorism.
“They are to deal decisively in accordance with the law with the sect and prevent the group from causing breakdown of law and order in those States,” he said.
“The full weight of the law will be applied on perpetrators of violence and lawlessness that can lead to breach of the peace, and law and order anywhere in the country,” he said.
